Most Venerable Bhante Jinalankara Thero is a Buddhist monk of The Theravada forest monastic tradition. He was ordained and trained under the guidance of Most Venerable Kadawedduwe Sri Jinawansa Maha Thero. He also gained his Dahmma education and the knowledge of Pali language from well learned Buddhist teachers of the same tradition. Later he had his knowledge of English language for dissemination of the Dhamma of the Western World.
Because of Bhante Jinalankara’s profound Dhamma knowledge and meditative experiences, he has been able to guide many people into the Dhamma. He is skillful of giving instructions on meditation in both Sinhala and English. Ven Jinalankara Thero tirelessly answers questions asked by many laities. He always gives the Dhamma knowledge to those who needed.
Bhante Jinalankara has travelled to many countries around the world as a monk. Some of the countries that he visited were Burma, Thailand, India, Nepal, Australia, USA, Canada, England, Switzerland, Japan, Malaysia, Vietnam and Singapore. The purpose of all his visits were to have meditation experiences and to spread the true Dhamma of the Theravada tradition in the West. The Venerable Bhante is currently the abbot of the Dhamma Gavesi Meditation Centre in Wellington, New Zealand.
